Here is the story of how I stumbled upon the most beautiful girl on Earth.
As Jelena and I walked around Supanova, coming up to the comic book section I laid eyes on her. I was eager to get to the si-fi section but stopped abruptly when my eyes traced over her glowing deep red hair. The stilettos she was wearing look deadly and she towered over me and floral docs. The turned and looked me up and down. She had a magical air about her and as she turned to walk away I saw her wink at me. Jelena was still raving about the current Captain America comic but I was hardly listening — all my focus was on the girl with the deep mahogany hair.
My eyes followed her as she weaved in between the crowd and it took me a while before I noticed that I was following her, my feet taking initiative and walking without command.
I was too afraid to just walk up to her and say ‘hi’ so I followed her, keeping my distance. Every now and then she looked back at me and I tried to hide the fact that I was following her by suddenly taking notice of the stalls around me. She wasn’t fooled.
She walked out of the arena and into a small grassed area. She turned around to face me and I was stunned by the full glory of her appearance. She wore a black dress that fitted her wonderfully and accented all the right areas, falling just before her knees. She was beautiful and I was summoned by a supernatural force as I walked towards her.
She smiled— my heart fluttered. “My name is Val, what’s yours?” her voice was like velvet. “Erm, Sam,” I stammered. She laughed and took my hand leading me over to a white washed stone bench under the shade of a wattle tree. I sat down next to her feeling awkward and embarrassed. She giggled at my apparent shyness and so she began talking about herself and asked me promoting questions.
I fell madly in love with her, sitting on that bench, hearing her tell me about her loves, her dreams and the things that caused her pain. Val was open and she allowed me to open myself up to her like I never had to anyone before.
After a few very embarrassing dates on my part and some wonderful ones on her’s we decided to go on holidays together. We went to a tropical island and swam in the warm pacific ocean by day and she read Robin comics to me by night (her love for Robin became infectious once she started sharing them with me).
I felt I had known Val my whole life for before I knew her, my life didn’t exist. I was but an organism wondering the earth without a purpose. Now I had a life and a soul, all thanks to the awakening Val had given me.
The gay community had finally convinced enough people in Australia that gay marriage was fine and it was made legal. We saw this as a sign from the universe and so ran into the waters of marriage laughing and smiling and loving one another with a passion that could change the world.
Oh fuck you, this wasn’t actually supposed to woo me.And what’s with Jelena’s Captain America reference.
