The Lady of Shalott by ~dashinvaine
Elaine of Astolat, otherwise known as the Lady of Shalott, of Arthurian legend, fell in love with Sir Lancelot, one of the Knights of the Round Table. Unfortunately, he rejected her. In the end she died of a heartbreak and her body is sent down to Camelot in a boat together with a white lily and a letter she wrote before her death.
In the 19th century Lord Alfred Tennyson wrote the famous poem ‘The Lady of Shalott’ based on her story.
